The Requirements of Participation (RoP) for Phase 3 take effect Nov. 28, 2019. Providers have a lot of work ahead of them to make sure they are prepared. Key areas include Ethics & Compliance, Trauma Informed Care programs, QA&A/QAPI Data Collection and Monitoring, Infection Preventionist and new training requirements. A key to success is utilizing components of prior RoP items such as the Facility Assessment and competencies. This program will provide an overview of the Phase 3 requirements and review tools and strategies that leaders can take back to their teams to ensure compliance.
We are rounding the bend to October 1, 2019 when CMS will be replacing the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Resource Utilization Group (RUG) payment system with the new Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) model for Medicare Part A payments.
However, it’s more than just PDPM that will be impacting SNF revenue as CMS continues to move steady with their focus on quality; 1) the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) will issue 2% payment penalties if facilities are not in compliance with the required MDS coding, and 2) the SNF Value Based Purchasing (VBP) program targeting hospital readmission rates – up to another 2% penalty facilities will receive if they are not performing well.
This program will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of these programs/ initiatives, discuss how they can potentially impact revenue for the upcoming Fiscal Year, present processes to ensure ethical billing practices and review strategies to improve & sustain performance through data collection and Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI).
