ACHCA - Ethics and the ACHCA Mentor Program

Tuesday, December 2, 2025 (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (EST)

Description

The American College of Health Care Administrators – New York Chapter presents Ethics and the ACHCA Mentor Program, a powerful and immersive continuing education experience designed to engage administrators, executives, and long-term care professionals in a thoughtful exploration of ethics in practice. This six-hour program at the Nyack Seaport features dramatic vignettes drawn from authentic scenarios in post-acute and long-term care settings, bringing to life the emotional and professional challenges faced by caregivers and leaders alike. Each vignette portrays a moral crossroads—grief, resident autonomy, staff boundaries, burnout, and leadership responsibility—inviting participants to reflect on how ethical principles are tested in the real world. Through facilitated discussion, attendees will examine these scenarios through the lens of the ACHCA Code of Ethics, which emphasizes integrity, accountability, and respect for the dignity and rights of residents. The session will challenge participants to apply ethical frameworks to daily decision-making and consider how culture, systems, and leadership choices shape ethical outcomes. Administrators will also earn critical ethics CEUs required for NAB licensure renewal, while gaining renewed clarity on the professional standards that define excellence in care and leadership. The afternoon portion of the program transitions to a deep dive into the ACHCA Mentor Program, highlighting how mentorship fosters both ethical growth and professional resilience. Mentors and mentees will share firsthand experiences illustrating how guidance, reflection, and shared learning strengthen leadership capacity and reinforce the values that unite the long-term care profession. Together, the vignettes, ethics dialogue, and mentorship stories form a cohesive educational experience—one that renews commitment to person-centered care, ethical integrity, and the shared responsibility of developing the next generation of health care leaders.
